It's only because they tried to implement the North American Union, aka U.S. + Mexico + Canada into a single Super Federation, but due to the Exposure it received, and the negative backlash, they didn't move forward with it, then Trump changed it into something else....
It would have been devastating to Canada and the U.S. to be directly connected to Mexico and without Borders, as we would have to deal with the blending of all three different Currencies, Economies, etc., and the Mexican Cartels to top it off....
