I need to get my potatoes in. It rained continually and the ground was too wet. The only reason I have my other veggies coming in is because of the raised bed and some containers. Going to get those potatoes in this weekend; IF the Good Lord is willing. Amen.
I grow my taters and sweet taters in crates.
Really? I had heard about growing them in tow sacks or even in your homemade mulch bed, but not a crate. What kind of crate? Please give info. I love hints of all kinds. Thanks in advance and God bless.
I follow old world garden farm, (their website has information on it as well as raised row gardens..and just had my boys make some straw bale size crates.. I have dirt in the bottom, add my taters or slips, then as they grow keep adding a mix of dirt, compost and straw until full and harvest. I'm still learning and need to do better with composting (it takes too long and I always get behind on that then don't have enough, but I currently have 2 piles started, so hopefully this year I'll do better with it) I tried winter sowing method too, and got some of my onions in the ground today.
Thank you very much. That sounds like we/ meaning daughter-in-law and I will have to try this. We are going to buy some straw bales anyway so why not. Will look up old world garden farm too. Thanks so very very much. Have a good night my friend.
