I have tried explaining lunar libration to them but they just gloss it over. With my own eyes I have seen the moons of Jupiter and Saturn as they disappear behind the planets and done the mathematical calculations to predict when they reappear. They ignore this information. I have explained how Pythagoras sundial experiment 3000 years ago proved the earth is a globe and 500 years later was confirmed by Eratosthenes startingly accurate calculation of the earths circumference to no avail.

Can you see a 3D sphere through your single eyepiece on your telescope? Would you play baseball with one eye shut? With proper shading street art makes amazing 3D holes appear on flat concrete
