Well, for one, Crickets do not become locusts. 13 million KG of 'cricket protien" is a LOT of crickets though, and them all escaping would probably be pretty rough on the area they're in.
I'm sure "sky shrimp" will be on the menu right along with the crickets. People already eat them. That'll likely be an option to give a little bit of perceived variety.
