As far as the ET mutilation go, it was theorized that the Grey's need hormones and pheromones to "eat" and they will remove certain parts of animals to harvest glandular secretions.
How true this is, I don't know, I just know I read it some time in the past, amongst the conspiracy type theories surrounding the cattle mutilation issue.
The theory was that the Greys had genetically modified themselves so much that they can no longer breed via natural breeding methods, so they spend a lot of their time abducting humans for genetic hybridization, as well as other animals for their hormones and general secretions. I believe the theory also stated they absorb nutrients through their skin, as they don't have stomachs like we do.
If this is the case, it does kinda fit and make sense.
I don't like the idea we will evolve into the greys. I'd rather live in a Star Trek or Star Wars future.
