I think most people just follow the cult, without thinking through the real consequences. Stopping diesel by 2036 will inevitably kill people. Perhaps one day we can do without fossil fuel, but not in 8 years...
We've done without fossil fuels since the beginning of time, because there is no such thing as fossile fuels. Oil is one of the most abundant resources on earth. Oil wells refill themselves all the time. Oil scarcity is, and always will be, artificial.

I have heard that argument before, but is there any scientific proof?
Agreed. From what I've heard, it seems to be a viable theory, but I haven't seen a lot of conclusive proof.
