I think today, fascism, is used in a way that is a complete 180 reversed contradiction of what it used to mean.
One thing the left is actually really good at, is weaponizing language. Language is how people think, so you control the language, you control how people think. Say this scary word when referring to political rivals, and suddenly people will have bad associations with that person; regardless of it being true or not...
