My limited research has indicated that the origin of ivermectin appears to be from quinine (Cinchona bark) -> chloroquine -> hydroxychloroquine -> ivermectin (merged with something else unknown yet); Ivermectin appears to build on hydroxychloroquine but with something additional that is as of yet still mysterious.

I am filling in the gap between when the USARL stopped developing HCQ (presumably because they were working on something better), and something better appearing shortly after which appeared to be based at least in part on the HCQ research findings in terms of its impact on humans.
I am not a chemist, but one may confirm this with some chemical signature that is similar between HCQ and Ivermectin. Chemically, I suspect Ivermectin is HCQ+(Something else unknown).
I don't think avermectin, a soil dwelling bacteria is made from quinine or its analogs.
The theory is that avermectin+HCQ = Ivermectin; However, this connection is less direct or obvious than avermectin/ivermectin sharing similar phenol properties with chaga mushroom extract. It is possible that HCQ/chloroquine/quinine/Cinchona bark shares properties with chaga mushroom (which grows in birch tree bark) extract as well, thus that possible relation.
All three seem to function in a similar way. That which functions similarly may have similar ingredients?
Ivermectin was isolated from a bacterium. The chemical structure of hcq and ivermectin are nothing alike. OP doesn't do microbiology nor biochemistry..

Indirectly from quinine, most directly from hydroxychloroquine which itself is 3rd generation from quinine. This is based on research periods and U.S. Army Research lab developing hydroxychloroquine in the 50s-60s (suspected from "captured" German/Nazi tech on chloroquine), and then partnering with Merck in the 70s for the development of Ivermectin with a Japanese Partner. Still unclear how much USARL was directly involved, they may have just licensed the technology.
The partnership with Merck is noted in the Ivermectin document. If you dig a little you will find the USARL partnership with Merck via some sort of partnership or licensing in the early 70s, maybe 1971-73 timeframe.

Highest bioavailability of VitaminD of any known substance that is not a concentrated VitD supplement. I drink Chaga tea almost every day. If there ever was a "magic potion" for health this is it, imo.
