Sadly for our ganja compatriots, THC appears to inhibit the CBD activity on rna virus.
But the hopeful implication is that it should, and is likely to, provide the same pharmacological protection/theraputics from all nasty rna viruses.
Just don't look for the big pharma conglomerates to sponsor the research.
While CBD may be effective, and THC may counter act that effectiveness, there is a HUGE amount of the medicinal benefits that come from the Terpenes in Cannabis or Hemp plants.
There are some studies by Dr.Ethan Russo on the pharmacology of Cannabinoids and Terpenes, I read it every few months (I have worked with cannabis for 18 years now), and I swear every time I am surprised at the terpenes effects when studying cancer or other illnesses.
plants create terpenoids, as well as alcohols, aldehydes, alkaloids, carotenoid, complex carbohydrates, lipids, and many other medicinal compounds.
Out of all the flowers in the planet earth, Cannabis has the largest collection of terpenes and in high concentrations, in my opinion it is the most complete source of these compounds in bulk for producing plant medicines.
Linalool, also found in lavender, creates endogenous opioids when ingested. The neat thing, is there is no withdrawal effects, while it still stimulates the same receptors as pain killers. This is why lavender tea makes you sleepy.
Pinene found in pine trees, is a potent acetylcholine esterase inhibitor, which helps slow the breakdown of the neural protective layer. This is important for long term memory and overall brain health. Degenerative diseases in this area have shown to be inhibited partially by exposure to Pinene as well as a few other cannabinoids and terpenes.
Beta caryophellene is found in hops, it is a sesquiterpene much like Linalool. It is classed as a Cannabinoid, and can also cause drowsiness.
Many terpenes have potent effects on viruses and other flu type illnesses, so CBD vs THC is a bad way of looking at it, science is shit in this regard. We need less stigma and more education professionals to break open the lesser understood nature of the plant as medicine and undo some of the marketing bullshit that has been prevalent in this industry for years.
Good reply. This should probably be its own post. I'm sure there are others on this board who can add to this. I believe we will eventually find that all cures exist naturally.
Got a good source for CBD oils? I cant find anyone to trust out of the thousands of snake oil salesmen. Im almost 59 years old doing a job that physically hits 25 year olds hard. I come home sore and tired, falling asleep in my chair, but when I lay down for bed Im wide awake. And God forbid I gotta pee at 2 am. Because Im up for the day if I do.
I'm Canadian, and I should refrain from posting links to commercial products here, as I'm a moderator, and it is against the rules more or less. If you're American I would have less input for reliable sources as well, I don't do much business across the border haha.
