This article is excellent stuff.
It reads like a pseudo-intellectual piece from The Atlantic, well written and well cited — albeit this article is far better at crafting a cohesive narrative than the incessant meandering The Atlantic does lately — and uses their own popular language against them, entirely viably, plausibly, seriously, and non-sarcastically.
In true leftist publication fashion, this article doesn’t argue or rebut leftist ideas or talking points. It doesn’t ask for opinions or get mired in “good faith discussion”.
It doesn’t read as the typical right wing “CNN calls Trumpers authoritarians but actually Biden…” defensive play we usually see.
No. It asserts that the narrative it is presenting is the sensible and logical truth (as it is), and that the reader is already well aware of this truth, and of the problem at hand, and the article is merely presenting its solutions to the already established, self-evident, and mutually agreed upon truth of leftist extremism.
This is an excellent example of taking back the culture and language.
