IMO I'd say that Mitch most likely didn't hurt his leg or whatever it was he hurt; but that he was taken out for awhile in order to make a deal with the White Hats which he is now regretting. He knows he's caught so it's either DEAL or DIE.

Whatever is in his future is bleak, depressing or an end to his life. This is a FOR REALZE MOMENT. and he does not like it one bit.

Either the fall was a lie and as you suggest he was taken out, or the fall was much worse than we were told and that's brain damage we are seeing.
