That already happened. History repeats itself. Just have to look at the space between Mars and jupiter.
I always figured that was Caprica lol.
It's a bit too /x/ tier for GAW, but I always though there was a connection between the asteroid belt, the current state of Mars, and whatever wiped out earth's previous civilization. I suspect the flood narrative that has popped up again and again through many cultures and myths is connected in some way as well.
