The face is patterned after the sculptors brother, which is why it looks masculine. Most of the bad press about Semiramis, a real person who, like many ancient royals, was given divine attributes by flatterers and later generations, came from a book called The Two Babylons (1853) by a minister named Hislop. Despite lack of evidence in the Bible, he is the one who identified her as the Whore of Babylon. He also seems to be the source of the assertion that the Catholic Church inherited some mysticism from Babylon and is dedicated to perpetuating it and a few other fantasies.

It's silly to worry about Babylon. If you want to know how important Babylon is/was, you can research Isaiah and Jeremiah and get an idea from bona fide observers. Babylon is overthrown, so utterly ruined just as the prophets said, exactly what God said he would do, that it's a miracle there are even scavengers there.
