Fringe was an excellent show, and yes, it got increasingly political in the last seasons. Season 5 had the characters flat-out fighting a growing tyranny, as I recall.

One of the best shows of the last 20 years. Definite elements of disclosure in it.

The other two of my top 3 are:

Galactica remake. Even more disclosure/good themes. Minus some politics but meh.
Chenobyl. A forewarning on what lies do to society. It's our turn now to experience it.
