I like him. A little too much environmentalism, but otherwise a truth teller
I’m starting to not mind the environmentalism in some cases. For instance, “Round Up”, a product you can buy off any store shelf contains glyphosate, a chemical that basically never goes away and causes cancer.
How is something like that allowed to be manufactured and sold to consumers when cigarettes come with Surgeon General warnings? It’s insane. Same can apply to herbicides, pesticides, etc. used on poison GMO crops.
Grew up at a lake in the 60s-70s. We literally rode our bikes behind the truck that sprayed DDT. The plan was to kill mosquitoes. The real result was to change the composition of bird eggs causing them to be fragile. From fertilizer to weed killer, we survived the onslaught. 50 years later we know many of our childhood peers have had cancer. We lived through untold chemicals released in our environment. I have mercury fillings and can remember breaking thermometers, playing with the mercury inside. Lead paint was used in our homes. They changed our foods, making us obese. We were exposed to thalidomide, alcohol, diet pills and cigarettes in our mothers wombs. The mothers themselves took birth control with hormonal impacts that killed many. Not negating your post but adding to it. IMO this just scratches the surface of the physical harm I country has been wrought on our citizenry by our own government. I never understand why it is so hard for some people to believe covid was a government plan to reduce the population. They've always done it.
Yup. This has been the next stage of my “awakening”. I’m realizing our entire food industry is connected to poisoning us. I’m doing my best to live an organic plant-forward (not 100% plant based) lifestyle, that includes diet and products I’m using around my house. It’s incredibly difficult to do.
The only way out of this mess is for the citizens to start making choices that are better for our planet and ourselves. Unfortunately, that will likely take more time.
Sugar is my biggest struggle. I do vegetable gardening so in season everything I eat is organic. I can and freeze the produce so the effort even goes somewhat into the winter months. I'm worse on the cleaning supplies. You can do wonders with vinegar but I live my tide.
As I understand it, the avian studies that were the basis of the egg-thinning hypothesis were conducted on the basis of having a shortage of phosphorus in the bird diets. They could only have lain thin shells. Other demonstrations of the safety of DDT established no harm to humans. The lives saved by use of DDT were in the millions. The deaths occasioned by the ban on DDT were greater. But, of course, the lives saved would have been African blacks, for the most part. Or Hindu Indians. Or southern Asians. Does this imply a kind of reverse targeting? Suspend protection from those you wish to diminish?
Yeah I would have been to young to know about that. Thank you for sharing.
