So have the platform removed, instead of censoring presidential candidates and other political runners, at the request of a fascist government. Turkish citizens would be awakened to extent the government would go to keep authoritarian, undemocratic rule. Instead of being manipulated unknowingly, into only hearing propaganda sanctioned by the government, on something he promotes as a total free-speech haven. He didn’t even inform anyone or at least Turkish voters, until he was called out on it yesterday. And here we are the day of the election, the damage is done.
I see your point and it is valid. I don't think we know all the information though. I think when Elon pushes Twitter as a free speech haven he is really only talking to Americans. But yeah he doesn't even really allow it 100% here. Keeps certain people off the platform for bullcrap reasons. If he were really a free speech absolutist he would not block any accounts.
Thanks, I’m just not sure what more information could plausibly justify censoring anyone, especially presidential candidates during an upcoming election, and at the direction of the government and President running, at that. I just can’t help but think what if Biden does the same thing? Would Elon censor accounts Biden and the government ask for, if Biden threatens to ban Twitter. But it could just be PTSD from having it happen to us, and somehow someway is justifiable.
No way can Biden block Twitter domestically. I think if the gov tried to force them to block accounts here Elon would say something or at least leak the info to someone. He has already done as much showing how the FBI had access and could sensor.
Bidens already working on doing it to TikTok.
I thought that Elon would too, at least disclose that he would have to or leak something like Twitter Files. But he didn’t when he blocked accounts at the Turkish governments request and didn’t reveal it until the exact night before the election, after someone else had to call him out and expose him on it. It wasn’t until then, that he even mentioned it to anyone or offered transparency regarding Twitter/Turkish Government communication.
