Indeed. And people like to brush it off as “oh we’re better at diagnosing now”…all these ABA companies didn’t spring up across the country for quirky/awkward kids. The increase in autism is an increase in moderately to severely disabled kids who will never be able to care for themselves or live independently. I used to work in the field and it broke my heart. It didn’t feel right making money off of these families’ desperation for their kid to be closer to normal.
