I'm sorry but there's no such thing as homeless anyone in the United States. Veterans have just as much access, if not more, to government welfare programs of all kinds, as anyone.
Homeless people aren't homeless. They're drug addicts. Whether they served in the military or not. End of story.
If they're holding a sign, they're buying wine (and heroin).
It is true. There is literally no excuse for being homeless in this country unless you're completely ignorant of the SCORES of programs, not just federal and state, but many times, in specific cities, OR....you're a fucking meth head or heroin junkie or something like it.
Sorry not sorry. You're either one or the other.
The only other group are the severely mentally ill, but they're often also drug addicts so...moot point.
I do not do drugs or drink. Also not a vet. I ended up homeless for two months because of an abusive spouse.
Also, I have severe mental health issues. Still not a drug addict or alcoholic. Never have been. I also don’t receive disability because the hoops you have to jump through are insane and I would likely not qualify because I live with my parents, who are also struggling. And it doesn’t pay much because I’ve never worked a “real” job. I can earn more money by stressing myself out to the max and trying to get art commissions, and even then I earn well below minimum wage.
I’ve looked into the government assistance programs. Guess what? I don’t qualify for anything but Medicaid and I’m losing that next month.
You ended up homeless because you don't know how to access government programs. Sorry but that's the truth. You literally had no excuse for living on the street, no matter what your abusive spouse did.

This is a load of crap.

You’re grossly overgeneralizing.
