P.S. The "If I drill a hole" idea has a lot of merit, actually. Ground loop systems can pump hot air down deep into the ground and then what comes back out is cool air. Or if it's below ~65F, the same system will heat a structure. And often this project can piggyback on your "I'm going to dig a well" project. The problem with digging straight down is that it is expensive to do so.
