Artificial intelligence and non-human are their code words for us plebians. They consider themselves human and denigrate us by using animal, insect and robot terms to describe us. They are not afraid of robots, they are afraid of us waking up. When the collective good people of the world wake up, that's what they call AI sentience. It's a good metaphor... watch other talking heads with the new meaning, you'll be surprised by how consistent it is.
