Secure Safe. Gimme a break mods. General Chat takes forever to get an answer!
Needs an answer, STAT!
Pedes, I need to buy a safe that has to be secured in concrete or something similar. Don’t need a real big one, so not a gun safe. A few pounds of “retirement” will be going into it. I’ll need to have it installed. I’m in the southeast. Can you guide me?
My thoughts about having someone install it is: someone but you knows about it now.
My thoughts about talking about this in a public forum: someone might target you.
My thoughts on how to hide gold would pretty much be to search the internet and come up with something that works for you, that you can do, and that no one will ever find out.
Just do what we did... 2 medium sized safes... 1 in a "normal" place where it's accessible (in a cupboard and can be "seen" )... 2(The important safe) you install in the floor, cemented and bolted and covered depending on what kind of floor it is with carpet/board, tiling etc....(For the good stuff 😏)
Pretty good idea—a decoy safe!
100%... If for any reason there's a burglary or home invasion etc.. They can have what's in the safe in the cupboard... 😁
Also, if you look at real old houses (as an example) they would build secret compartment, passageways, rooms for valuables, hiding in etc….. Then there are neurotic ideas like my dad had of hiding extra cash in Sucrets boxes under my Gramas house. (He had zero trust in banks)
Absolutely... 😉
17d ban.
lol j/k idk, u/Windows8866 are you anon enough for a stick on this, for discussions sake?
Imma “she” and thanks BQnita. You’re my hero here. Well, one anyway. Thanks!
I’m anon enough. Let’s do it!
All right, another thing i can think of is... 'if you look poor, people will think you're poor'.
So don't be flashing.
just not the freezer, it is one of the first places a thief will look. (heard it on tv)
Yes, but consider: Keep a small container with a small quantity of the items in the freezer to be found by thieves or handed over the actual robbers during an invasion. The bulk of the items remain in the REAL hiding place.
Enhanced strategy: Keep a very small amount easily accessible at the desk, then another a slightly larger amount in the freezer, with the bulk hidden in the actual hiding place.
Just get progressively larger freezers and sprinkle in decoys until you have a wall of different sized freezers and somewhere amongst them is the true treasure.
This topic has been discussed here before so as far as discussing on a public forum…I’m in agreement with you on another person would know. My options are limited fren. I don’t know what to look for regarding my situation. I’m thinking safe but I remember a conversation on here where it was stated that if someone could pick it up, they could carry it off. Therefore I’m considering securing in concrete.
I keep my shiny in a gun safe. Use redhead concrete anchors to bolt it to the floor and then run big lag screws through the back into the studs in the wall.
Secure in concrete AND make it heavy to carry as well, a hundred bucks of pennies weighs 55 Lbs... a few hundred bucks in pennies plus weight of safe and cement...
Also you can bolt some safes to the floor internally...
a decoy also a good idea...
Point #1 can be done if you can find someone you trust to do it for you. In my jurisdiction at least, you don't have to be explicitly honest for the usage of your planned modifications; you can get a permit for a certain size of wine cellar but then create a bunker with it etc.
So if you can find a company you trust to do installs on the down low, you can at least preserve the secrets where it matters: from the governments.
