“I think he did great for three years, but when he turned the country over to Fauci in March of 2020, that destroyed millions of people’s lives,” the 44-year-old DeSantis said.

DeSantis has moved to Step 2 without actually completing Step 1. He needs to show that Fauci destroyed those lives. Yes, "WE" know he did but lots of normies have not caught up yet.

I think DeSantis would be better off pursuing Fauci first before he goes after Trump on the basis of Fauci.
