On Monday, give all the honor to those who gave their lives, and to their families who also sacrificed. If you know someone who lost a family member in the military drop them a text or email, or give them a call and just tell them you're thinking about them. That will mean a lot. They have to live through each Memorial Day without their loved one(s).
We can never convey what they and their family’s sacrifices mean to us. This is what we should acknowledge for an entire month, not LGBQT and Black History. Because they and their family’s sacrifices knew no color, no race and no sexual orientation. They served and sacrificed their lives so we could remain free as a nation: One nation under God, with liberty and justice for ALL.
I do a lot of thinking on this holiday about my father. He was drafted, age 19, US Army, WWII. My mother and he eloped shortly after he received his draft notice. She was 16. After 3 long years went by, she saw him again.
My father was a Combat Engineer and fought in 3 battles - Kasserine Pass, Battle of the Bulge, and D-Day. He was a good man. He was a good father. My mother was a good woman. She was a good mother. I am very thankful. I am very fortunate.

Yep. Had someone remind me of the following:
Armed forces day is for those still in their uniform.
Veterans day is for those who hung up their uniform.
Memorial day is for those who never made it out of their uniform.
Every time I read that it gives me chills.
Both my grandfathers. One in the pacific and one in europe.
My father always reminded me that during vietnam, he did serve on a ship.
Not much risk there compared to "In Country", he would say.
All 3 served and all 3 have passed away.
Thinking of all of them this memorial day.
What would the 3 of them think of bud light, target and the other "woke" if alive?

I would like to add one thing. My maternal grandfather is buried at Riverside National Cemetery, CA.
Does not make the news much, but it is the west coast version of Arlington.

Having lost friends like this. It pains me to think that they're only given 1 day to be honored and the LGHDTV community is given a whole month.
