Were great movies and probably a good idea. Fence the evil in...
God destroyed many cities back in Biblical days, and maybe he will again in modern times.

Maybe it's because current capitalist conditions are frankly, not good for the rando. Our country generates more capital than ever post-pandemic, corporations are continuing to post year-after-year record profits, banks collapsing, golden parachutes, etc, while regular folk are squeezed tighter and tighter.
"The grass seems greener on the other side" is a tired expression, but only because it is so often relevant. It seems to be a cross-cultural phenomenon of the human brain. Fixing what property you have is more work, less exciting, less promise of immediate change, than switching over to a different property entirely.
It is genuinely hard for the human brain to competently compare current crappy conditions the brain and the body it is in are currently experiencing, with the possibility of much worse dangers. Yes, even with the aid of historical precedent - especially in the post-truth global world.
I'm not saying it's impossible to think otherwise - clearly not. Just that the way our brains prioritize information and conditions make it an easy trap to fall into, before you factor in invisible hands.
I think you're onto something. Thanks for sharing that.
You're welcome! B)
