I'm very curious what this looks like in modern times. Maybe we can reset to our founding documents and maintain some sort of America? This time we see it and who's doing it. Can we cut out the cancer and reset?
That needs to be done. Most, if not all, of the Amendments are illegitimate because they contradict the Constitution or not ratified, or both.
I thought changing the Constitution was the whole point of amendments.
Whatever amendments may be added, they MUST not contradict the Constitution...Marbury -v- Madison, for one. When you really start looking at what the amendments actually do--after the 10th--you'll see that they defy the supreme law of our land. Notice the 18th Amendment that prohibited alcohol. That was a direct assault on the unalienable rights of the people and we have many more rights than the ones that were enumerated. The 17th Amendment took away the state legislatures' right to elect their senators. That took away their voices along with the peoples'. It also violated the 10th Amendment. These are just 2 examples. People are not and have not paid attention to anything and so have no idea when they're being utterly screwed every which way.
IMO America as it once was can potentially be preserved in pockets here and there but preserving the entire union and returning to the founding spirit of the country is impossible. I'm sorry to say but I don't think we'll ever be breaking bread with NY and California in the future unless we compromise our own values. Short of a complete miracle and the vast majority turning back to God in a sincere way I'm not sure it's realistic to expect that we can keep the country wholly intact. If you want to use the Romans as an analogue then look at how the empire split up into a bunch of different kingdoms/principalities.
Anything's possible if God wills it, but I'm not sure if God wills it here.
