Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
When I heard Beef and Spinach I knew. I went through this for years. I suffered from gout for years and first I gave up alcohol completely. Then meat. And when that made no difference I was told that Spinach, Chickpeas and pretty much any veggie I like are also bad. Got to the point where I was not sure what I could eat anymore. Thats when I discovered the Drop Acid book.
So I started inceasing my pH level by drinking half a lime squeezed into a glass of water, mixed with 1/4th tsp of backing soda, mixed well to get nice fizz, every night atleast one hour after I eat the last food, and boom. Not only did my gout pain disappear, in the next blood test the uric acid levels were just below the threshold and the doctor was baffled. Of course he had no explanation, and when I mentioned pH level, he said it was just a myth.
Anyway, I keep checking my pH with one of those ph strips and my body seems to be extremely acidic. So I keep doing this daily and my gout is very much under control. No flare ups since then.
Oh, I eat everything (except alcohol, sugars, processed carbs, minimal carbs in general) - meat, spinach, you name it. Oh, and I also started doing IF around the same time, so that helps as well.
It does help, thank you! I read that lemon juice with water was good and also read about the baking soda, but would never have thought to put them together.
Baking soda is good if you have really bad acid reflux too. Mix a little in some water and drink slowly.
