I agree it's definitely aggressive. One could decouple it from "pride" by doing the same with non-pride items, so it has a time-wasting effect, but isn't as clearly connected. I've heard of people taking frozen goods and leaving them in carts in out-of-the-way warm areas of the store, covered with paper goods, etc. Remember though you're on camera the entire time. Definitely a way to get banned.
Great point. Target's forensic science units are top notch and in all likelihood better than your PD's.
Remember, they can lift your prints off of merchandise you touched. They see you on the camera and grab your prints - they match your prints to the camera image.
Target will often volunteer time to work on PD cases when work is slow. At least they used to do this.
It was a way they could sharpen their skills through practice and experience AND give back to the community.

Very cool.
It is not illegal to fill a cart and forget your wallet. Or to get an important phone call and have to leave.
Very true.
I was adding to the fact that you are on camera the entire time.
