umm... it's because there's like 60 separate wild fires burning in Nova Scotia. The provinces of NS and NB have tens of thousands of kilometers of hiking trails each. Most of these are not connect or affiliated with provincial parks; no gates or anyone to keep you out in a situation like this. Usually just a parking lot and access to the trails. Most of NB and NS are woodlands. Go 5 minutes outside any city or town here and you're in the woods.
