What is milk (milque?) toast is it an American breakfast thing? I hope it is nicer than your truly disgusting french toast which is cheap bread dipped in a million calories of icing sugar.
"Milk toast's soft blandness served as inspiration for the name of the timid and ineffectual comic strip character Caspar Milquetoast, drawn by H. T. Webster from 1924 to 1952.[7] Thus, the term "milquetoast" entered the language as the label for a timid, shrinking, apologetic person."
In answer to your question…. Milque toast is what used to be given to ill or very elderly people, bread dipped in milk to soften it. Its easy to chew and swallow, and was given so they could get some nutrition while they recover. The phrase milque toast has become a euphemism for someone who is essentially weak or easily pushed around.
That is American welfare toast you are talking about, French toast is pretty good and no need for all that sugar, cinnamon with a hit of brown sugar or maple syrup on the top will do. I bet you're eating neutella right now my foreign friend lol
