Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
My mother has bursitis. Got any ideas for that?
I know boron is for arthritis.
cold compresses, cortisone injections? My two cents having had it in my knee. Oh, and also volteran topical cream followed by DMSO (medical grade) a few minutes after.
I had a shoulder injury, and accupuncture along with a chiropractor helped a lot. I also took hyaluronic acid capsules with a stop pain roll on at night. No problems since.
Try rest, ice packs, OTC anti inflammatory meds. If it’s a hip, avoid sitting, laying on that side.
Usually when they see the dr, they will prescribe anti inflammatory and other pain meds, want to do MRIs and eventually could lead to steroid injections and possible surgery. They may prescribe PT. It’s my humble opinion that a lot of these issues can be healed without all the complicated stuff. Rest, ice, compression if possible, otc meds and once it’s feeling better, gentle exercises. A chiropractor may be able to help.
Where is the pain? Hip? Shoulder?
Shoulder. She's hoping it's not a rotator cuff injury of some kind.
I was hoping for vitamin recommendations, but thanks for these anyway.
Well, Cod Liver Oil is an oldie but goodie for inflammation of the joints, get some arnica and have someone massage as much as she can take, to break up the bursor.
I was told by a chiropractor D3 helps joints but I don’t have the dosage recommendation atm. But maybe look into that.
+1 to above recommendations. Ultimately very little in medicine heals anything, it just helps the body do it. Supportive care and cutting out negative impact on the body should always be step 1.
That said, I'm a huge fan of NAC.
