Addiction is a strong means of control. Many instances of comms indicating drugging and sexual activities as a means of keeping an MKd individual “pacified” until they are needed/or a ceasefire, hard to say without additional context to each individual one.
But the empathy is important, no matter who draws what line, we were all pure children once. That means it could have been any one of us. They shower them with the trappings we desire so we more easily resent them. Makes them better patsies.
In order for this system to work someone needs to make a choice, but that choice is always obfuscated and terrible and they are steered heavily towards it. Forgiveness unravels this, the wall their back is against is our own understanding of their hardships that they know we won’t understand.
