Gold backed dollar would do it maybe, then crypto starts becoming commonplace over time and we end up with gold backed blockchain crypto or something. And then that turns sour and we have The Mark. I personally think we're getting a magnetic pole shift around 2045, God will flip the Earth upside down and whoever is left will start the new Golden Age.
