Romans 12:17-21
17 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. 18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. 19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. 20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. 21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
I would not describe God's vengeance as the same thing people are talking about here with their revenge fantasy. That is the distinction. God's vengeance is just, the revenge porn being fantasied about here is abhorrent. Grab the millstone and get it over with.
And are you reminding me to hate evil or to hate people who do evil?
Do people go too far sometimes in their revenge fantasies? Sure. That's not up for contention.
But tolerance of evil is in itself evil.
They show no signs of repentance or goodwill, they repeatedly disguise their actions as good and gaslight masses into participating, tolerating and defending it. That's extremely problematic, as they lead children down an awful path of sin from their childhood; they don't even get a chance to be innocent as that innocence is robbed from them.
It is fine to want revenge on those who would commit atrocities against children.
It is righteous even.
Revenge is not justice, and it never will be. They are distinct.
Justice is righteous.
What about instances within the Bible of righteous revenge?
There is no distinction. It isn't black and white like that, and absolutely never was.
Reminder that you are commanded to hate evil.
Vengeance is God's. The Bible is clear.

I like the cut of your jib.
