The religious tension of Buddhism vs mainstream Christianity was unnecessary to the culture clash of being a separatist vs a conformist.
SPOILER: The movie has a sad ending where conformity wins. Some family members value the Ivy League even though they should be equipped to see through its superficiality. The kids already demonstrated the inferiority of the public schools but then decide to waste their time there so they can fit in with the clueless. The oldest boy goes to Africa, which is either fake virtue signaling or a genuine waste of time.
The first half of the movie is better, where the father shows that he trusts his kids to be able to handle the truth. As best as the father knows the truth, anyway.
Except for seeing Viggo Mortenson’s penis.
Prosthetic. You’ll live

Cool! I’m in! Easy review……lol
I agree. It was an amazing movie that challenges how our society is today. A very good movie.
