It did not sound like a sonic boom. It sounded like an explosion.

I am in NoVA and thought the same as you yesterday afternoon -- like two, back to back, literally house-shaking explosions. I've heard sonic booms and yesterday's event did NOT sound like that in NoVA.

It was super loud - I can't imagine every Air Force/Navy Plane going Mach 1+ making that huge of a boom, 70+mile every direction, every time, every plane, ever... when they went supersonic...
