Once, long ago, I visited a crash site of a small fighter jet. No civilian jets in those days. It had drilled right into a wooded hill with soft dirt and left almost no trace, like a meteor. I knew about it from someone who dug into the site hoping to find something. It is possible if the speed and angle and dirt are right. Since there was no telephone or radio communication from anyone aboard, I'm inclined to think decompression happened and the plane was flying itself.
Not a planefag, but here is what I found on adsbex. Hit the close button, for what appears to be a nonexistent ad, over on the right, on the map screen and you can zoom in and see the downward spiral at the end.
If you close the history, on the left, you should see the plane's info. It certainly wasn't a new plane, circa 1990, so it's 33(!) years old.

I’d like a planefag to post the flight path, cuz it sounds like it made a U turn and then a 180.
