When the world sees the victims, will we be ready? These children, after lots of trauma treatment, will need homes, not to be thrown into institutions, will we be ready? Are there churches that not only preach, but do the work of true disciples, clothe and feed and heal. Working with children who have had trauma is not easy, they will be damaged, but still need love and commitment. They will test, they will lie, they will be very messed up, complex ptsd is no ride in the park, for all concerned. Prayer works, but believe when I tell you, it is not enough, and God help the child who ends up rescued, but placed in the wrong home. I am hoping that there is already proffesionals in place who are trustworthy and committed. Back when crack babies were appearing on the scene, the fear was that a generation of psychopaths would be among us, because those drugs wipe out receptors in the brain for empathy, compassion, morality, and we have seen cold blooded psychos coming from the crack infested areas. it is not poverty, it is brain damage that happens to the little ones. I pray that we will be ready, we will be informed, and we will have open loving hearts, but knowledge enough to not idealize this rescue operation. It will not be a warm and touching movie, we will have great joy at the end of this, true, Praise God, but we will have work to do, for all who are committed, these children will not be someone elses problem. Please do not let these years or research come to naught, when the movie is over, we leave the dark theatre into the glare of a new day, and we will be needed to do the work God has given us to do. Pray for strength to do his work.
