Unfortunate consequence of Luther's rejection of Aristotle & Aquinas. You're conflating completely different categories: nouns and verbs, person/place/things and actions. To be a person attracted to same sex (noun, attraction is not a verb) is not the same as a person engaging of sodomy (verb, sodomy is an act not a noun/thing).
To BE gay may be disordered, but it is not sinful. To DO gay is sinful.
being gay is not a sin but it is disordered (not as a pejorative but as in "out of order" like a steering wheel in the trunk of a car).
committing acts of sodomy, however, is a grave sin.
as long as you can keep it in your pants, not commit acts of sodomy, and not encourage others in their sin then you are on the side of good.
The best way to accomplish this is to not be gay. "I am gay" is a demonic lie.
"I am"
Watch out for lust. It's a hard one to break free from.
