Not sure what a cootie is so I went to a search engine and typed define:cootie
A body louse or an imaginery germ. So I don't understand the meme.
What I will say though is that people go overboard worrying about children's awareness of sex. I disagree with what seems to be the new fashion of moving school sex education down from teenagers to 8 year olds but at some age they do need to know the plain facts about sex as opposed to weird myths and stories that kids swap with each other.
What you have to remember is that privacy is a very recent thing. Kids years ago living in poverty in communal shacks would have had some idea of their parents having sex and they definitely would have seen animals doing it.
Tl;Dr kids don't need drag queens filling their storytime with crap but neither can you keep them forever in a sex-free world.
In other words, girls are gross. Boys are gross too. Both to each other until they're not, usually around puberty.
Let kids be kids and grow up. If they have questions, answer them directly and with brevity. There is no need to bring the subject up, much less force it on them, especially so young.
Cooties are the boogymen of microbiology. You don't want that mess on you as a small child. It's much like the cheese touch.
