I wonder if the DU is being used to cover for the illness that will come with illegal and unsafe mining and processing of the uranium to get it on the cheap and to feed the "green" energy industry?
Not that easy to get raw uranium, so there is no "cheap" method. Your best bet is to be scrupulous about the proven methods and prevent any loss of the valuable uranium (which will preclude or minimize any heavy-metal toxic risk). DU would be available only as a byproduct of uranium enrichment. The "green" energy industry has no use for nuclear power, which source completely undermines the argument for the "green" ("renewable") power systems.
The U.S. once thought that it would be possible to control nuclear weapons by controlling sources of uranium, and embarked on that idea. It wasn't long before it became clear that uranium was, in fact, widely distributed and there was no possibility of controlling it worldwide.
Depleted uranium is an artificial product, from which the U-235 has been largely removed. There are no "deposits of depleted uranium."
I thought you were making a joke about the new deposits of depleted uranium. ;)
That would make a good shit post.

Interesting.
