This guy is a very straight shooter. He’s a pilot for a major airline but also in the Guard. Three weeks in August he’ll be in Alaska for what he says they’re touting a very complex war exercise. There will be different factions of the military coming together for this exercise. He says they are preparing for war against China. He firmly believes war is coming. He’s not awake at all, so we don’t have those kinds of discussions. But he’s well thought of at his base and very much relied upon as a model soldier and he is helping his base to prepare for it.

The biggest military budget in the world gets some people very rich. And leaves the country with overpriced pieces of junk like F35, zumwalt, aircraft carriers (in the age of hypersonic missiles), etc etc.
Money does not equal quality. The purpose of the 'defense budget' is to enrich the MIC.
you don't actually know much about the F35 do you. Yes it had some teething troubles but that is because it is the most advanced of it's type to ever exist. Infact there is no other type because this is a brand new concept. Very few people know what this plane can actually do. There is always some fool who knows nothing that thinks they know everything.
Are there any tidbits of info you can give to illustrate the F35's abilities, or is what you're hinting at classified info?
it's not designed to be a dogfighter, the F22 does that. The F35 is about destroying targets from far away before it's seen and it's designed to work with land and ship based missile systems where it can take control of those rather than use it's onboard weapons. Then there's the AI stuff. This plane is like no other concept. Think of it as a new stealth fighter with capabilities beyond anything that can do.
Great, US built a better horse. Others have automobiles.
What does F35 do against enemies with hypersonic missiles? Assuming:
And then once it gets up it has to dodge S500s and their ilk.
Sure, F35 would be good, in 1990. It's now 2023, others have hypersonic missiles, and the US is building better horses.
F35 represents an obsolete doctrine. Same as the aircraft carrier. Unless its intent is to 'fight' the Taliban and equivalent opponents.
