He was only charged with two tax evasion and owning a gun as a known drug user. The gun charge would have been jail time so they did the plea bargain. And what a bargain it was.
Good morning. Your name is Hunter Biden and you did something bad. Here is a slap on the wrist.
Good morning. Your name is Donald Trump and we THINK you did something bad. Here is 100 years in prison.
There is something wrong there, especially when we have a President that clearly follows the rule of law. The only thing President Trump has in common with Russia, prior to becoming President, was that he sought to open a hotel in Moscow. As for the federal indictments, President Trump can clearly handle classified documents from his administration. That has been proven in court.
Remember, Trump is facing obstruction of justice charges too. That generally ups the ante in a criminal case.
Trump was facing a subpoena. He gave back boxes of documents including classified documents under the subpoena. He didn't claim he didn't need to give them back. He also asserted "any and all documents" responsive to the subpoena were returned, but the DOJ had evidence this was not the case and this is how they got the search warrant and the search turned up even more classified documents.
Hunter is not charged in the crimes he should have been. We will not see any Hunter testimony. Not ever. Sorry.

A subpoena that was predicated on absolute nonsense and was rightfully ignored.
Congress can't control what Exec does. At all.
It is quite possible those classified documents were planted. Regardless, the President was right to take what he needs.
