The Vice President of the United States is given specific protection by the Secret Service. Does this imply she is not the VP? Or is she in custody of the DOJ? If she was a witness she would still have the Secret Service protecting her.

Either she's under arrest or the Secret Service is running out of warm bodies in its protection details and need some backstopping by a credible force, which means the Marshalls step in to fill those gaps. I'm hoping she's under arrest and is still making appearances to keep up the facade. I wonder if she was wearing an ankle bracelet or a walking foot brace.
