Is it because of the "usual" reason? Generally it is because the children do not want to farm the land any more. It is too much work for them and they would rather sell it off and get paid a bundle for it. Then they won't have to work at farming, which is difficult. If tech giants are just buying it up off of conglomerates, then it is a different story. We still won't have enough farmers in the future to supply the grains, beef, eggs, chickens, ducks, etc.

That may be part of the story but plenty of the families want to stay and object to huge factories moving in and taking over.
