RT is like NPR and is an autonomous, non-profit organization. Albeit, the Russian Federation does provide them a budget.

RT is the only Russian TV channel to be an eleven-time Emmy finalist. This in itself suggests they are not necessarily "all" advocates of Putin. Several of their stories are critical of the Russian SMO and almost appear like western reporting.
