If you were the Russian president and you caught high level coup plotters... why would you advertise to the whole world WHO the are, WHERE they are being held and HOW they were caught?

Those are the sorts of things you'd keep quiet in order to catch underlings and co-conspirators.

Nothing in these stories makes sense... unless you consider that it's a false story released by Russia for strategic reasons.
