Not accidental, part of the attack on Christianity in general, Catholicism specifically. It has always been really important to them to remove the Virgin Mary from the sight of families and young girls. Masons wouldn't set fire or try to blow up just churches, no- they targeted those dedicated to the Virgin Mary the most.
