Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
Anyone have a skeptical or negative view of "Sound of Freedom"
I feel like I am the only anon not hyped about it
I haven't seen the movie to give an opinion. I'll probably wait for streaming. I think they will eventually release DVD if they do it will be available on streaming sites. I don't have any desire to watch something on this subject in public.
I've seen several comments either here or social media (not sure where). The negativity I'm seeing is Tim Ballard is associated with LDS church which is Mormon. I'm making assumptions about Mormon's, I've heard negative things about children but I don't have any facts. It's not a religion I can support but that doesn't mean they are all bad people.
Also I've read negative comments about him because he's x CIA. There again that's putting everyone in the same box. I have white trash cousins but that doesn't make the entire family bad.
Lastly I'm wary about any group asking for donations.
Edit: to add I believe this movie is waking up a lot of people that would not know about child trafficking, sex abuse and slavery. I was talking to someone at a family event last week and they knew about the movie and pedos. I was really surprised, she and her husband started a church. Most people I know that are dedicated church goers don't have a clue what's been going on the past three years. Most I know are fully vaccinated and trust the government and don't like Trump. These are white Christian conservatives.
I agree, I rarely go to the theatre and my husband goes less than I do. We saw Top Gun Maverick at Imax and that was worth it. I've been with my daughter over the years when she was still home. It was something we could do together and enjoy. She doesn't go either anymore. My husband has probably been to the theater less than five times in 34 years. Days Of Thunder got him out back in the day and later when my child was small. I've never seen Blade Runner and don't know anything about it. I'm into sappy pre 2015 romance (before it got woke with agendas), comedy and military or anything shoot 'em up. Older is much better and I'll watch something over and over before watching new movies.
Like Smokey and The Bandit, should have left well enough alone. Also the Hangover is hilarious but one & two are worthless.
