Govt jobs should not be a path to riches but almost a min wage service to country type deal.

True, but the riches come not from the salary but the corruption. Our forefathers had it correct when they said power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely! We have seen it happening over time and now find ourselves in quite a pickle.
