Take my upvote. King is the most wildly overrated writer in America.
His actual writing style is awful. I tried to read the "IT;" and I put it down in the first chapter. I never read anything else by him after yhat impression. His plots make better movies. I say that as someone who almost always prefers the original book to a movie - where they ruin a good book.
He looks bat shit crazy. Mad upvotes for the anons saying he could be a manson cult follower.
King was really mad at Kubrick for changing The Shining to suit his own multilayered symbolism.
Kubrick actually knew what he was doing.
i certainly won't write off horror as a genre, but i'm more than happy to write off king.
